7 Baby items you didn't know you wanted.

July 11, 2016

Whether you are expecting your first baby or are in triple digits in the children department registry lists run the gamut. Frankly they can be frustrating on what you need which as we here at MB know only to well... not only do we have both young children we also have infants in the MB family. And do register for the swaddle blankets, bottles and the baby monitor then check out these 7 cool items that we think are worth being on that list.

1.  We have to say we are lovers of baby gadgets that come out of Sweden, they are always smart and with a clean aesthetic.  MB particularly loves this Dock A Tot as it is what the boppy isn't. The boppy is great and we recommend having one however it gets to that point that baby has fallen asleep and it  isn't designed to be used as a bed, which is why the Dock A Tot is great. The baby sleeps snugged and can lie at a near distance from you. Easy to carry and clean. Avail Wild Was Mama.

2. If you are a seasoned parent then you know vibrating gadgets for the baby are a-mazing. Some babies cannot be calmed or go to sleep without vibration. This is why this Lulla-Vibe by Munchkin is genius as it can be placed throughout the home.

Please note that the earlier  reviews on Amazon were that the product was unsafe. The latest reviews are that the product work very well. We find Munchkin products to be well made and a company that cares for the safety of their customers which is why we continue to buy their products.

3. Nail clipping a child especially a newborn frankly stresses many a parent out...kudos to you if you are not a nervous nail clipper. This is why the Zoli Buzz B Electric Nail Trimmer is a registry must as it files nails rather then clips them.

4. While my son was a newborn I ran a fan for the first year while he slept as I read that running one may lower the risk of SIDS. If the Owlet, a device that alerts you when your baby stops breathing, had been available I would have absolutely used it. I am actually testing it presently at home and will say the only caveat I have found is that it is imperative to have high quality wifi as this device works in conjunction with an app on your phone... if you have bad signal it makes set up difficult. We definitely recommend going on to the site and familiarizing yourself on the owlet and it's features before purchase.

5. No noisy breast pump with this eco BPA, PVC, Phthalate and Lead free pump from New Zealand company Haaka. Perfect for travel or on the breast pumping as the device is pretty simple. It suctions your breast and you squeeze....voila...milk. Haakaa Silicone Breast Pump

6.  This device lets out a rhythmic shush that is to remind baby of the womb. You may have already read books that state about the shhhh sound that often will calm a crying baby, this device takes it up a few notches with the constant sound of a loud shhhh that helps baby to sleep. Trust us as sleep becomes the golden ticket once a newborn arrives.  Baby Shusher - The Soothing Sleep Miracle for Babies

7. We actually had the pleasure of testing the new Extend2Fit 3-in-1 Car Seat by Graco. As is mentioned in the name this new Graco carseat is 3 seats in 1. Starting at  rear-facing infants,  forward-facing for toddlers and big kid. Favorite extras are the extension panel that  provides 5" additional leg room, seat goes up to  50 lb. allowing for rear-facing longer and the trademarked Simply Safe Adjust  which allows the parent to adjust the height of the harness and headrest as your child grows. At $250.00 this seat is a valued purchased for the new parent.
